Your first visit with us will consist of a consultation to go over your diagnosis and treatment options. On some occasions, surgery can be performed on the same day as this initial consultation. However, these types of appointments must be planned ahead of time. A complex medical history or treatment plan will require additional evaluations and a second appointment. In these cases, treatment will be scheduled on a later date.
Remember that all patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at the consultation visit.
For patients undergoing IV anesthesia for surgery, a pre-operative consultation and physical examination is mandatory, and will require a second visit. On the day we schedule your procedure, please ensure you have had nothing to eat or drink 8 hours prior. You will also need a second adult to drive you home and, depending on the nature of your surgery, take care of you for a few hours to a few days after surgery.
Please alert our office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery. These may include things like diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc. Additionally, be prepared to let our team know if you are currently taking any medications such as heart medication, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy and so on.
We try our best to stay on schedule to minimize your waiting. Due to the fact that the doctors provide surgical services, various circumstances may lengthen the time allocated for a procedure. Emergency cases can also arise and cause delays. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
